Shadow had walked away, through the streets of the Rukongai as Captain Hitsugaya followed, trying to convince her to stay. "I'm sorry Captain Hitsugaya, but I don't belong here!!" Shadow snapped back at her captain, "Goodbye, Captain Hitsugaya, goodbye FOREVER!!" And with that, shadow disappeared from the Soul Society to wander the streets of Karakura Town..........

I dunno. Another fanfic-to-be? >_> Anyways, two things to clarify, the sheath, is made of crystal, same as the sword (in Shikai and Bankai only, I apparently could NEVER get the transparency right). And second, this doesn't refer to any of the Bleach episodes to date.
